About Ironwood Prep

A parent-led co-op building the next generation of women in tech, one conversation at a time.

Our Story

Ironwood Prep started in 2021 around a kitchen table in Decatur, Georgia. Three homeschool parents — a former software developer, a high school science teacher, and a mom who worked her way into data analytics — realized their daughters were getting a solid academic foundation but almost no exposure to what real careers in technology actually looked like.

What began as a weekly meetup has grown into a co-op of 18 families across the Atlanta metro, with a curriculum that blends computer science fundamentals, information ethics, and increasingly cybersecurity and policy.

Meet Sarah

Sarah started Ironwood Prep after years of watching her daughter struggle to find role models who looked like her in tech. A former project manager and self-taught coder, she now coordinates curriculum, speakers, and community partnerships full-time.

"I don't want these girls to discover cybersecurity at 22 and wish someone had told them sooner. That's why we do this."
